Two Young Climbers Die After 100‑Metre Fall on Italy’s Monte Pasubio

On Sunday 14 June 2026, two young alpinists – a 26‑year‑old man and a 25‑year‑old woman from the Vicenza area – fell more than 100 metres while climbing the Boschetti‑Zaltron spur on the Sojo d’Uderle face of Monte Pasubio in the Veneto Alps.

Their companions raised the alarm at about 11:30 a.m. and the Alpine Rescue Service from Schio was dispatched, assisted by a helicopter from Trento and a medical crew. Fog at the summit hampered the operation, and rescuers were unable to revive the victims.

The bodies were later recovered and carried down the mountain on foot after the helicopter could not perform a winch extraction. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the fall.
