Two‑year‑old boy found alive after 14‑hour search in Nyåker, Sweden

A two‑year‑old boy from a Romanian family disappeared from his home in Nyåker, Västerbotten, Sweden, on Sunday morning. Police, the Swedish Home Guard, the armed forces, helicopters, drones, thermal‑imaging cameras, volunteer groups such as Missing People, and local residents joined a massive search that lasted more than 14 hours.

The child was located at about 01:00 on Monday about a 20‑minute walk from the house, in a forested area, after Home Guard members heard his cries. He was awake but slightly chilled and was taken to hospital for examination. Authorities said no criminal activity was suspected in the disappearance.

Family members expressed relief, with the child’s grandmother saying, “It is wonderful. Thank you to everyone who searched. Thank you Sweden. I am so grateful.”
