Storm Narra moves toward China after causing heavy rain in Vietnam
Storm Narra (Storm No. 4) is currently moving through the Gulf of Tonkin with maximum winds of level 8 (62-74 km/h) and gusts reaching level 10. As of August 25, the storm's center was located south of the Bach Long Vi archipelago.
Meteorological forecasts indicate the storm will change course to the northeast, moving toward the Leizhou Peninsula and eventually making landfall in Guangxi, China, around August 27. Upon landfall, the storm is expected to weaken into a tropical depression and subsequently a low-pressure area.
The storm's circulation has caused significant heavy rainfall across Northern and North Central Vietnam, including provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Ha Tinh. Authorities have issued warnings for flash floods and landslides in mountainous regions due to high soil saturation. In the Gulf of Tonkin, sea conditions remain hazardous with waves reaching 2 to 4 meters, posing risks to maritime activities.
