Typhoon Surigae expected to form by September 24

Tropical Depression TD29 is expected to intensify into Typhoon Surigae as early as September 24. Meteorological models currently show divergent paths for the storm, primarily split between a scenario where it turns north early and another where it continues moving west.

If the typhoon fails to turn north and continues a westward trajectory, it could potentially impact Taiwan around September 29. While some models suggest the storm will pass to the east of Taiwan toward the Ryukyu Islands, others indicate it could approach the island more closely.

Regarding local weather, the Mid-Autumn Festival period from September 25 to 28 is expected to remain mostly cloudy to clear, allowing for moon viewing in many areas. However, rainfall may increase in northern and northeastern Taiwan starting around September 28 as the outer circulation of the typhoon approaches.
