Typhoon White Dolphin approaches Taiwan, brings rain and heat warnings

The 13th tropical cyclone, named Typhoon White Dolphin, has weakened to a moderate typhoon but retains a broad circulation. Forecasts show it moving northwest then turning westward toward the Ryukyu Islands, with the closest approach to Taiwan expected over the weekend of August 8‑9. The storm’s outer rain bands are expected to increase rainfall in northern Taiwan and central mountain areas, with a chance of heavy rain and possible sea warnings.

Temperatures across Taiwan remain high, ranging from 32 °C to 35 °C, with some locations reaching above 36 °C. The Central Weather Bureau has issued heat advisories and cautioned the public to stay hydrated and use sun protection. A nearby tropical low near Luzon is also being monitored but is not expected to affect Taiwan directly.
