Tyre, Lebanon Evacuated After Israeli Airstrikes Leave Hundreds Displaced

The Israeli army issued an evacuation order for the entire city of Tyre in southern Lebanon, including the historic port district and the Christian quarter, prompting residents to flee. Local reports say the town is now about 99 % empty, with many families still packing belongings.

Air raids have killed at least eight people and wounded dozens. Lebanon’s health ministry records a total of 3,666 dead and 11,321 injured since March 2, with 29 deaths and 133 injuries reported in the past 24 hours. The attacks have also struck nearby Palestinian refugee camps and agricultural areas. Lebanese archbishops and humanitarian groups have warned that the destruction of Tyre’s cultural heritage would be a “human and national catastrophe.” Israeli officials say the strikes target Hezbollah positions and indicate that further bombardments could occur without political approval, echoing tactics used in Gaza.
