Tyrnavos Municipality investigates illegal landfill in Platanulia

The Municipality of Tyrnavos has taken legal action following the discovery of a large-scale illegal landfill in the Roumani area of Platanulia. A delegation led by Deputy Mayor Evgenia Mamano, accompanied by police, inspected the site to document the volume and characteristics of the waste in an effort to identify those responsible.

A formal complaint has been filed, and a preliminary investigation by the relevant authorities is currently underway. Municipal cleaning crews worked late on August 15 to remove the waste and restore the area to its original state.

Local authorities noted that illegal dumping has reached alarming levels across various points within the municipality, posing serious risks to the environment and public health. The municipality has pledged to intensify inspections to combat these irresponsible actions.
