Tyrnavos hosts 3rd annual Tsipouro Festival
The 3rd Tsipouro Festival has opened in the central square of Tyrnavos, Greece, celebrating the region's tradition of viticulture and distillation. Organized by the Municipality of Tyrnavos with support from the Region of Thessaly and the Larissa Chamber of Commerce, the event highlights the local production of tsipouro as a vital component of the area's economy and cultural identity.
Local officials and political representatives attended the inauguration, including Mayor Stelios Tsikritis and Thessaly Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas. During the event, attendees discussed the importance of supporting local producers facing challenges such as rising production costs, climate change, and recent crop damage caused by hail.
Political figures present, including Christos Kellas and Evangelia Liakouli, emphasized the need for stronger agricultural policies to protect the primary sector and ensure the sustainability of rural communities. The festival serves as a platform to promote the 'brand name' of Tyrnavos tsipouro and support the livelihoods of grape growers and distillers.
