Tyrnavos infrastructure and Tsipouro Festival

The Municipality of Tyrnavos has undertaken several initiatives to improve local infrastructure and public spaces. Initially, the municipality focused on the restoration and upgrade of the Tyrnavos Municipal Theatre, addressing long-term maintenance needs through painting, surface repairs, and the replacement of all 300 auditorium seats with new fabric to improve hygiene and comfort.

Following these efforts, municipal services shifted focus toward urban beautification and cleaning in preparation for the Tsipouro Festival. This work included landscaping, tree pruning, and the maintenance of the road network and public squares.

Building on these preparations, the town hosted the 3rd annual Tsipouro Festival in its central square. Organized by the Municipality of Tyrnavos with support from the Region of Thessaly and the Larissa Chamber of Commerce, the event celebrated local viticulture and distillation traditions. During the inauguration, attended by Mayor Stelios Tsikritis and Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas, officials discussed the economic importance of tsipouro production.

Political representatives, including Christos Kellas and Evangelia Liakouli, used the platform to address challenges facing local producers, such as rising production costs, climate change, and recent crop damage caused by hail. The festival aimed to promote the ‘brand name’ of Tyrnavos tsipouro and advocate for stronger agricultural policies to ensure the sustainability of rural communities.
