U2 has released a cover of 'Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah' as part of a tribute album dedicated to the late Shane MacGowan, the frontman of The Pogues who passed away in 2023. The project, titled '20th Century Paddy: The Songs of Shane MacGowan', is scheduled for release on November 13 via the Rubyworks label.

The album features a wide array of musical talent, including 39 artists performing 36 songs. Notable contributors include Bruce Springsteen, who performs 'A Rainy Night in Soho', Tom Waits, Primal Scream, Johnny Depp, and The Libertines.

In a statement regarding the tribute, U2 guitarist The Edge reflected on MacGowan's complex personality, noting his ability to blend folk traditions with punk energy and describing him as a musician who was 'precise about what mattered and gloriously careless with everything else.'

As part of the project's charitable efforts, at least 50% of the royalties from the album's sales will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community, an organization that provides housing and healthcare support to vulnerable individuals in Dublin.
