Overview

U2 has released a cover of the song ‘Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’ as a tribute to the late Shane MacGowan, the former frontman of The Pogues. The tribute project features 39 artists performing 36 songs, including contributions from Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, The Libertines, and Hozier. Regarding the musical legacy of MacGowan, The Edge described the late musician as being ‘precise about what mattered and gloriously careless with everything else.’

In addition to celebrating MacGowan’s influence, the album includes a charitable component: at least 50% of the royalties from sales will be donated to the Dublin Simon Community to support housing and healthcare for vulnerable individuals in Dublin.
