UNAM to expand with new 20,000-student campus in Mexico City

Mexican academic and social institutions are advancing several initiatives. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and the Mexico City Government have announced a new Escuela Nacional de Estudios Superiores (ENES) campus in the southeast of the capital. The project, which has a projected capacity of 20,000 students, will be constructed by the city government, while UNAM will manage equipment and operations. President Claudia Sheinbaum expressed support for the expansion, noting that UNAM has a significant budget to help open more educational spaces.

In other developments, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California (UABC) conducted the ‘Latido Cimarrón’ blood donation campaign at its Tijuana campus, contributing to Baja California's rise to eighth place nationally in altruistic blood donation. Additionally, the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur (UABCS) and the Universidad Autónoma del Carmen (UNACAR) have strengthened their collaboration regarding University Social Responsibility to link academic functions with community needs.

Furthermore, the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo (UMSNH) is working with the Secretariat of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation (SECIHTI) to promote research and technological transfer. Finally, Alianza In México appointed Fabiola Peña as its new Executive Director to lead the association of digital mobility and delivery platforms.
