UABJO forms advisory council to plan bicentennial celebrations
The rector of the Universidad Autónoma "Benito Juárez" de Oaxaca, Farid Acevedo López, met with the members of a newly created Bicentennial Advisory Council to coordinate the 200‑year celebration of the institute’s historic predecessor, the Instituto de Ciencias y Artes de Oaxaca (ICAE). The council, composed of academics, cultural and social leaders from Oaxaca, will help shape proposals and content for the commemorative program, which aims to highlight the legacy of ICAE in public education, professional training and the region’s cultural development.
During the meeting the rector also unveiled the official bicentennial emblem, featuring a laurel crown that will be used on all related activities, publications and institutional materials. The advisory group’s participation is intended to bring diverse perspectives and enrich the celebration of the university’s historic milestone.
