UABJO institutional developments and bicentennial planning

Overview

The Universidad Autónoma Benito Juárez de Oaxaca (UABJO) is undertaking several institutional initiatives. The university has established a Bicentennial Advisory Council, composed of academics and social leaders, to coordinate celebrations for the 200-year anniversary of its predecessor, the Instituto de Ciencias y Artes de Oaxaca (ICAE). During this process, Rector Farid Acevedo López unveiled an official bicentennial emblem featuring a laurel crown.

In addition to these commemorative efforts, the university has completed an internal audit of 26 institutional processes to comply with ISO 9001:2015 quality management standards. This audit covered 31 areas, including human resources and student selection, in preparation for an external follow-up audit. Preparatory school activities, such as induction courses for the 2026-2027 academic cycle, are also proceeding alongside the bicentennial preparations.
