UAE allocates $10 million to combat Ebola outbreak in Africa
The United Arab Emirates has allocated $10 million to support international efforts to curb the Ebola outbreak in Africa and strengthen health response capabilities in affected regions. This initiative, announced through the Emirates International Aid Agency following directives from President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, was disclosed during an international meeting held at the United Nations General Assembly.
Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri, head of the Emirates International Aid Agency, stated that the country remains committed to supporting global efforts to face health crises. To date, the UAE has sent over 150 tons of diverse aid and supplies to affected areas, including protective equipment and infection control materials used by approximately 280 health facilities, as well as shelter supplies and food for various age groups.
The funding comes as challenges persist regarding the Ebola virus outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where the geographical spread of the virus necessitates increased international coordination and accelerated response measures.
