UAE authorities dismantle international drug trafficking network

United Arab Emirates security forces have dismantled an international drug trafficking network, resulting in the arrest of 20 suspects. The operation was launched following an intelligence exchange between UAE agencies and Iraq’s General Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs.

Authorities seized 200,000 Captagon pills and over 30 kilograms of various narcotics, including cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish, and synthetic cannabinoids known as Spice. The network had planned to smuggle the substances through a border area in Ras Al-Khaimah for distribution across the country.

The coordinated effort involved the National Drug Enforcement Authority, police forces from Ras Al-Khaimah, Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, with judicial coordination from the UAE Public Prosecution. The 20 suspects hold various nationalities, including Gulf, Arab, African, and Asian.
