International drug trafficking enforcement

Overview

Law enforcement agencies in Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates have conducted significant operations against narcotics trafficking networks.

In Geneva, police seized over 314 kilograms of drugs between July and mid-September 2026. These operations dismantled three networks and involved arrests of several suspects. Authorities noted that traffickers are increasingly using social media for recruitment and instant messaging to organize deliveries.

In the United Arab Emirates, security forces dismantled an international network, arresting 20 suspects of various nationalities. Following intelligence exchanges with Iraqi authorities, officials seized 200,000 Captagon pills and over 30 kilograms of substances including cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, marijuana, hashish, and Spice. The group had planned to smuggle these items through Ras Al-Khaimah for domestic distribution.
