UAE integrates Avalanche blockchain into UAE PASS digital identity platform

The United Arab Emirates is integrating Avalanche blockchain technology into its national digital identity platform, UAE PASS. The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) is partnering with consultancy firm Deca4 and Ava Labs to implement this update within the UAE PASS Digital Vault.

Rather than using a shared blockchain, the project will utilize a dedicated Avalanche L1 to ensure faster and more secure document verification. This infrastructure will allow users to securely store, request, and share verified government documents, such as academic certificates or trade licenses, while using blockchain records to confirm authenticity without placing personal data directly on the chain.

UAE PASS currently serves approximately 12.5 million users, providing access to over 15,000 services across more than 350 government and private sector entities. Ava Labs described the integration as ‘one of the largest real-world, nation-state use cases for public blockchain infrastructure to date.’
