UAE officials outline AI integration and human-centric justice vision
At the 15th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi, UAE officials outlined strategies for modernizing justice systems through digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
Attorney-General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi emphasized that people must remain the central measure of success in any justice system. He noted that while AI can support analysis and improve efficiency, it cannot replace human legal judgment or responsibility. The UAE is focusing on digital services to reduce bureaucracy and improve accessibility for diverse populations, including those with disabilities or language barriers.
Counsellor Salem Al Zaabi detailed the ‘Future Prosecution 2045’ vision, describing it as a systemic transformation rather than a mere technological upgrade. The framework positions AI as an enabling capability that operates within strict legal and ethical boundaries, ensuring that human authority remains paramount in all judicial and prosecutorial decisions to maintain public trust.
