UAE pledges $10 million for Nepal flood and landslide relief

The United Arab Emirates has allocated $10 million in aid to assist victims of devastating floods and landslides in Nepal. Following directives from President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the assistance will be distributed through the UAE Aid Agency as part of an urgent humanitarian response.

The disaster, triggered by a collapse of ice, mud, and rock into a mountain river, has resulted in significant loss of life and property. Reports indicate hundreds of deaths, with over 1,000 people missing across Nepal and neighboring China. The flash floods impacted routes used by trekkers and pilgrims linking Kathmandu with Lhasa.

Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Amiri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, stated that teams are working with local authorities and international organizations to ensure relief reaches all affected groups, including men, women, and children. The aid aims to provide essential food supplies and shelter materials to mitigate the impact of the catastrophe.
