UAE sees rain showers, dust storms and extreme heat as families chase storms

The UAE National Centre of Meteorology forecast partly cloudy skies with convective clouds bringing rain to eastern and southern areas, while strong winds of up to 70 km/h lifted dust across the emirates. Temperatures are expected to stay high, ranging from 42 °C on the coast to nearly 49 °C inland, with Abu Dhabi and Al Ain forecast to reach 47 °C.

A community of “rain‑chasers” follows the forecasts of self‑taught meteorologist Muhammed Sajjad KP, known online as the UAE Weatherman. Families from across the Emirates, such as Hameed Ali and his wife Aneesa, drive to locations where rain is predicted, sometimes crossing into neighbouring Oman, to experience the brief downpours that provide relief from the intense heat.
