Dubai International Airport (DXB) reported 31.5 million passengers in the first half of 2026, a 31.3% decrease compared to the same period in 2025. This decline is attributed to regional airspace constraints and disruptions caused by the conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran, which began on February 28, 2026. The airport also experienced a 32.1% year-on-year drop in aircraft movements, totaling 150,600, and a 28.7% decline in cargo volumes, which reached 751,340 tons.

Despite these challenges, DXB showed signs of recovery during the second quarter. Monthly passenger volumes rose steadily from 3.5 million in April to 4.5 million in May, reaching 5 million in June. Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths noted that while the first half of the year tested the aviation system, demand is responding immediately as airline capacity returns. The airport continues to invest in infrastructure, including biometric systems and enhanced passenger flow, to prepare for a projected stronger second half of the year.
