UAEM students protest in Cuernavaca after murder of Spanish student

Students from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM) marched through Cuernavaca to demand justice and increased security following the murder of Claudia Tacoronte Aguilera. Tacoronte Aguilera, a 21-year-old exchange student from the University of Granada in Spain, was killed with a knife during a suspected robbery in Cuautla.

The protest highlights a growing security crisis within the university community, as Tacoronte Aguilera is the fourth student from UAEM to be murdered in the last seven months. Demonstrators expressed feelings of vulnerability and criticized the perceived inadequacy of both state and federal security forces.

The Morelos Prosecutor's Office is investigating the crime under a feminicide protocol. The Mexican government has stated that federal authorities are collaborating with state officials, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is maintaining contact with the Spanish Consulate regarding the case.
