UAEMéx and State of Mexico launch FILEM 2026 literary festival

The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) and the Government of the State of Mexico have inaugurated the twelfth edition of the FILEM 2026 literary festival. Operating under the theme “Más autoras, más mundos” (More female authors, more worlds), the event aims to promote reading, recognize the contributions of women to literature, and expand cultural access through collaborative efforts.

The festival features over 300 free activities, including book presentations, conferences, workshops, and concerts. While the Plaza de los Mártires in Toluca serves as the primary nine-day venue, the program extends to museums, cultural centers, and municipalities such as Amecameca and Tenancingo.

During the opening ceremony, UAEMéx Rector Martha Patricia Zarza Delgado and the Secretary of Culture and Tourism of the State of Mexico, Nelly Carrasco Godínez, emphasized that the expansion of venues allows the university to strengthen its bond with society by bringing books and artistic expressions closer to a wider range of people.
