UAEMéx hosts first Cienciatón AI innovation competition

The Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) held the first edition of Cienciatón, an event where 30 teams from 17 academic departments developed digital prototypes using artificial intelligence to address social needs.

Participants, including undergraduate and graduate students as well as researchers, utilized digital tools and AI to create solutions without requiring advanced programming knowledge. The event was supported by the technology company Hostinger.

Key award-winning projects included: - First Place: ‘Ecosensor: Clasificación y Separación de Residuos’ from the UAEM Valle de México, a tool for improving waste classification and separation. - Second Place: ‘Raíces’ from the Tejupilco Professional Academic Unit, a digital platform designed to facilitate the teaching and transmission of the Matlatzinca language.

UAEMéx Rector Martha Patricia Zarza Delgado emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration, while Arianna Becerril García, Secretary of Science at UAEMéx, noted that the initiative aims to democratize knowledge and promote the application of scientific tools to real-world problems.
