UAEMéx technological innovation competitions
Overview
Students and researchers from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México (UAEMéx) have participated in several recent technological innovation competitions.
In early October 2026, two teams from UAEMéx secured first and second place at LiverHack 2026, a hackathon held at the Liverpool Corporate offices in Mexico City. The competition involved 12 teams from various educational institutions focusing on technological problem-solving.
Following this, UAEMéx hosted the inaugural Cienciatón, an AI innovation competition. Supported by Hostinger, the event involved 30 teams from 17 academic departments developing digital prototypes to address social needs. Award-winning projects included ‘Ecosensor: Clasificación y Separación de Residuos’ for waste management and ‘Raíces’ for teaching the Matlatzinca language. University officials noted the initiative aims to “democratize knowledge and promote the application of scientific tools to real-world problems.”
Additionally, the university held the first edition of the Reto InnovaTIC competition. Organized by the Secretariat of University Management and Administration and the Directorate of Information and Communication Technologies, the challenge focused on prototypes for educational and social issues. The top honors were awarded to the project “Sigma” (first place), “Aula viva” (second place), and “PotroPath” (third place). Officials stated that such awards recognize the commitment to transforming ideas into innovative proposals through multidisciplinary collaboration.
