Turkey celebrates 104th anniversary of regional liberations
Various cities and districts across Turkey are celebrating the 104th anniversary of their liberation from occupation during the Turkish War of Independence.
In Eskişehir, ceremonies included wreath-laying at the Kanlıpınar Martyrdom and official messages from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Local officials and military representatives emphasized the historical significance of the city’s resistance and its strategic role during the struggle for independence.
Uşak marked the occasion with large-scale programs at the Kalfa Event Area, featuring military demonstrations by the Gendarmerie General Command, helicopter displays by JÖAK, and traditional performances such as horseback archery and Cirit tournaments. Local leaders highlighted the importance of continuing the nation's progress in technology and diplomacy as a modern way to honor their ancestors.
In the Selendi district of Manisa, celebrations were integrated into the Selendi Cirit and Tobacco Festival. Events included parades, local markets, and public concerts to commemorate the end of the occupation on September 3, 1922.
