UASLP investigates potential leak of student data

The Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (UASLP) is investigating a potential leak of student data following alerts on social media. The university is analyzing whether recently circulated information stems from a cybersecurity incident that occurred in early August 2026.

A cybersecurity specialist reported on X that data allegedly belonging to 940 students from the northern zone may have been exposed, including 878 photographs. The leaked information reportedly contains names, academic programs, academic status, dates of birth, contact information, and institutional identifiers. The data is linked to an attacker identified as ‘zfo$’.

UASLP has not yet confirmed the full extent of the breach or if the circulating data is indeed institutional. The university has previously filed a complaint with the Fiscalía General de la República and requested technical assistance from the Guardia Nacional’s cybersecurity unit, CERT-MX. The institution has urged the university community to exercise caution regarding suspicious communications and to rely only on official channels.
