Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas launches scholarships, expands online programs and readies football debut
The rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Tamaulipas (UAT), Dámaso Anaya Alvarado, announced the 2026‑3 New Entry Scholarship aimed at recent high‑school graduates with a minimum 9.5 GPA. The scholarship waives the first‑semester enrollment fee and can be renewed for subsequent terms. Applications are accepted from 4 to 14 August 2026, with the benefit taking effect on 18 August 2026.
UAT also unveiled a plan to add more than 20 new online bachelor's degrees, ensuring each of its 27 faculties offers at least one distance‑learning program. The university highlighted a recent 5.5% rise in enrollment at the medium‑school level, the opening of new campuses such as Nuevo Laredo and the Prepa UAT Tampico, and the launch of an online high‑school track that feeds directly into its virtual degree programs.
In the sports arena, UAT’s football club Correcaminos began an intensive training week ahead of its first match in the Apertura 2026 of the Liga de Expansión MX, scheduled for Friday. The team is focusing on tactical and physical preparation to make a strong debut and aims to compete for top positions in the upcoming season.
