Ubatuba launches election process for municipal tourism council 2026‑2028

The Ubatuba municipal tourism department (Setur) issued Edital No. 001/2026 to regulate the nomination, registration, qualification and election of members for the Conselho Municipal de Turismo (CMT) for the 2026‑2028 term. The procedure follows Municipal Law 3.832/2015 as amended by Law 4.751/2026. Interested candidates must complete an electronic form and submit required documentation by 24 August. After the qualification stage, representatives of the tourism production chain and civil society will be chosen in an electoral assembly.

The CMT will have 27 titular members and an equal number of alternates, each serving a two‑year mandate. It functions as a deliberative and advisory body to the municipal executive, contributing to planning, coordination and monitoring of tourism policies, issuing opinions on related projects, overseeing municipal tourism programmes, proposing sector guidelines and managing the Municipal Tourism Fund. The council also keeps tourism data up‑to‑date and promotes studies and debates. Members include municipal secretaries, the Fundação de Arte e Cultura de Ubatuba (Fundart), the Companhia Municipal de Turismo (Comtur) and local conservation units.
