Ubatuba municipal governance and tourism updates
Overview
In early July 2026, the municipalities of Ubatuba and Itabira released revised service and holiday timetables. Later that month, Ubatuba’s municipal tourism department (Setur) initiated the election process for the Municipal Tourism Council (CMT) for the 2026–2028 term via Edital No. 001/2026. The council, consisting of 27 titular members and 27 alternates, serves as a deliberative body for tourism planning, fund administration, and policy monitoring.
By mid-August, Tourism Secretary Anderson Paiva noted that only three registrations had been received for the council. He warned that once the current 120-day mandate extension expires, the council will be “legally barred from deliberating on any tourism-related demands or managing the Municipal Tourism Fund” until the election process is finalized. The deadline for candidate applications is 24 August. To apply, interested parties must submit an electronic form and attach required documentation for their specific segment in a single PDF file. Following applicant vetting, representatives from the production chain and civil society will be selected through an Electoral Assembly.
Regarding employment, the municipal employment desk (Balcão de Emprego) has released weekly lists of vacancies in commerce, hospitality, construction, logistics, and environmental services. Positions range from supermarket staff and cleaners to electricians, gardeners, drivers, and office assistants. Applicants can submit resumes in person at the Ressaca office or access training via Qualifica SP and Capacita GOV.BR. Concurrently, the municipal urban development company (Emdurb) opened registration for a public competition for 48 positions in pest control, parking operations, and administration. Registration for the Emdurb contest closed on 10 August, with exams scheduled for 30 August.
