Ubatuba's Itamambuca Beach Named by CNN Travel as Top Hidden Brazilian Destination

Itamambuca beach, located in the municipality of Ubatuba, São Paulo, was included in CNN Travel’s July selection of Brazil’s lesser‑known coastal destinations. The travel outlet highlighted the beach’s surf‑friendly waves, surrounding Atlantic‑forest reserves, and a network of trails such as the 10‑kilometre Trilha das Sete Praias that links seven beaches.

Ubatuba’s tourism secretary, Anderson Paiva, said the recognition “consolidates our municipality as one of the country’s main destinations” while emphasizing continued focus on structured development, environmental preservation and cultural heritage. The city offers about 38 trekking points, many within protected areas where visits require accredited environmental monitors or guided services. Ubatuba is also noted as Brazil’s surfing capital, recalling pioneering national surf festivals of the 1970s.
