Uber Eats Japan and Honda launch safe driving experiment

Uber Eats Japan and Honda have launched a joint demonstration experiment titled the ‘Uber Eats Safe Driving Campaign’ to improve road safety among delivery partners. Running from September 1 to September 28, the initiative targets 1,500 delivery partners using mopeds or motorcycles in Japan.

The program utilizes Honda’s ‘Two-Wheel Safe Driving Diagnosis App,’ which uses smartphone GPS data to analyze driving behaviors such as acceleration, braking, and steering. This data is converted into a visible ‘Safe Driving Score,’ allowing participants to objectively review their driving habits.

To incentivize participation, the companies are offering financial rewards. All participants who complete at least 150 km of driving with the app active will receive 5,000 yen. Additionally, the top 10 participants with the highest average safety scores will receive an extra 15,000 yen, bringing the total potential reward to 20,000 yen.
