Uber Eats and Honda motorcycle safety initiative

Overview

Uber Eats Japan and Honda have initiated a joint demonstration project titled the ‘Uber Eats Safe Driving Campaign’ to improve road safety among delivery partners. Running throughout September 2026, the nationwide trial involves approximately 1,500 delivery partners using mopeds or motorcycles.

The initiative utilizes Honda’s ‘Two-Wheel Safe Driving Diagnosis App,’ which leverages smartphone GPS and sensor data to analyze driving behaviors such as acceleration, braking, and steering. This technology converts data into a visible ‘Safe Driving Score,’ allowing riders to identify personal weaknesses through a data-driven approach.

To encourage participation and behavioral change, the companies are offering financial incentives. Participants who complete at least 150 km of driving with the app active can receive 5,000 yen, while the top 10 participants with the highest average safety scores may receive a total of 20,000 yen. This project aligns with Honda’s long-term goal to halve traffic fatalities by 2030 and reach zero fatalities by 2050.
