Uber enters eurobond market and CEO executes $10M stock purchase
Uber Technologies Inc. is expanding its financial footprint in Europe through its first issuance of eurobonds. The company is launching a five-part debt offering with fixed interest rates and maturities ranging from three to 20 years. This move follows Uber's ongoing acquisition of Germany-based Delivery Hero SE, a deal that Fitch Ratings noted provides greater geographic diversification and scale, resulting in an A- rating for the bonds.
In a separate move signaling confidence in the company's profitability and long-term trajectory, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi purchased over $10 million worth of company shares. The transaction involved 141,000 shares at an average price of approximately $70.96. Market analysts view this insider purchase as a sign that management considers current stock valuations attractive as the company transitions from a growth-focused model to one emphasizing stabilized cash flows and diversified mobility and delivery services.
