Ubiquiti launches UniFi Travel Router Long-Range and updates UniFi Network software

Ubiquiti has expanded its mobile networking lineup with the introduction of the UniFi Travel Router Long-Range. Priced at 89 Euro, this new model features a foldable high-gain antenna array designed to improve signal reception and stability in environments like hotels or campsites. While the hardware includes improved directional capabilities, the device utilizes the older WiFi 5 (802.11ac) standard rather than newer WiFi 6 or 7 protocols.

A notable software addition to the router is support for AmneziaWG, a modified version of the WireGuard VPN protocol intended to provide enhanced privacy. The device remains compact and is powered via USB, supporting both wireless WISP mode and Ethernet uplinks.

In parallel, Ubiquiti has released UniFi Network version 10.6. This software update focuses on managing larger, distributed networks through features like ‘Topology Spotlight’ for clearer client analysis and ‘Channel AI’ for automated nightly channel optimization. The update also introduces ‘SafeOps’ to test management VLAN changes, allowing devices to automatically revert to previous settings if a new configuration fails.
