Ubisoft tests Steam integration to remove launcher requirement

Ubisoft is testing a new integration method for its Steam titles called ‘Ubisoft Connect Services’. This tool aims to make the separate Ubisoft Connect launcher unnecessary for players launching games through Steam.

The first title to implement this system is ‘Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown’. Under this new model, Steam handles the game launch directly, while the connection to Ubisoft services runs in the background. This eliminates the need for players to wait for a second software application to open and log in.

Despite the removal of the mandatory launcher, core features such as cross-progression, cross-play, and rewards are expected to remain available. While the launcher itself may no longer be required, it is currently unclear if linking a Ubisoft account to a Steam account will remain a requirement for all future titles.
