Mexico Navy seizes over 1.2 tonnes of cocaine off Chiapas coast

Mexican naval forces intercepted two small craft near the beaches of San José El Hueyate in Chiapas, detaining eight people and confiscating an estimated 1.2 tonnes of cocaine. The haul, worth roughly 263 million pesos, represents a significant blow to organized crime and adds to the 74 tonnes seized by the Navy during the current administration.

In Argentina, police operations in Morón (Buenos Aires), Sauce Viejo (Santa Fe), Frías (Santiago del Estero) and the Salta border seized more than 100 kg of cannabis, nearly 2 kg of marijuana in a vehicle, and over 71 kg of marijuana at the Orán checkpoint, along with cash, weapons and equipment used for trafficking.

Other recent drug busts include a Colombian coast seizure of 2.3 tonnes of cocaine, an Ecuadorian operation in Esmeraldas that confiscated 432 kg of marijuana and 2 kg of cocaine base, and a Dominican Republic campaign that destroyed more than 33 tonnes of narcotics in 2026. Spain’s Guardia Civil dismantled two local drug‑sale points, seizing 30 g of cocaine and associated paraphernalia. In Mauritius, authorities arrested a police sergeant linked to a 62.5 kg cannabis import.

These coordinated law‑enforcement actions across Latin America and Europe illustrate a broader crackdown on drug production, trafficking and distribution networks.
