UCI announces major changes to 2027 professional cycling calendar
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has announced significant changes to the 2027 professional cycling calendar, introducing several new or returning events that will shift early-season competition schedules.
In Spain, the Vuelta Ciclista a Canarias will debut from January 14 to 17, 2027, spanning Gran Canaria and Tenerife. This event is expected to serve as a major season opener for WorldTour and ProTeam riders. Similarly, Mexico is set to regain prominence with the Clásica de la República on January 17 and the Tour de México starting January 20, driven in part by the rising profile of rider Isaac del Toro.
Colombia will also see the return of the Tour Colombia from January 26 to 31, 2027, with Antioquia identified as a likely host region. Meanwhile, Türkiye has secured 20 UCI-sanctioned organizations for 2027, including the Presidential Cycling Tour of Türkiye from April 25 to May 2 and the Tour of İstanbul in September. The Turkish season is scheduled to begin in Antalya on February 13.
