Argentine political parties reorganize for 2027 elections

Political restructuring and alliance-building are intensifying across Argentina as parties prepare for the 2027 elections.

In La Pampa, the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) has authorized a small negotiating committee to seek alliances with various opposition forces, including La Libertad Avanza (LLA), to promote political alternation. However, this move has faced internal criticism from leaders like Pedro Salas, who warned of a “political suicide” because the committee was not required to submit final agreements to a general assembly for approval.

In Córdoba, Rodrigo de Loredo has consolidated control over the UCR provincial structure following a federal court ruling that upheld the exclusion of the “Más Radicalismo” alliance. This judicial victory secures De Loredo’s leadership and strengthens his position for future electoral negotiations.

Nationally, La Libertad Avanza is expanding its political reach. The party has intervened its structure in Formosa to reorganize its provincial branch and address administrative irregularities. Meanwhile, the LLA leadership is pursuing individual agreements with various radical leaders to build a broader coalition for 2027, though they currently avoid formal integration of the UCR as a whole party due to internal ideological divisions within the radical ranks.
