UCR Córdoba to hold internal elections after failed consensus

The Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) in Córdoba has failed to reach a consensus agreement, moving toward internal elections to replace Marcos Ferrer as head of the Provincial Committee.

Two main factions have registered their candidates. The officialist space, Generación X, has nominated provincial legislator Matías Gvozdenovich. The opposition bloc, Más Radicalismo, has presented Juan Jure, the former mayor of Río Cuarto, as its candidate.

The inability to reach a unity list stemmed from irreconcilable differences regarding the distribution of seats within the Provincial Congress. The opposition sought a higher number of representatives based on previous agreements, while the current leadership rejected these claims due to a decrease in agreements within the provincial interior. The internal elections are scheduled for September 20.
