UCR internal dispute emerges in Valle Viejo

The internal unity of the Unión Cívica Radical (UCR) has fractured in Valle Viejo following the submission of a second list to compete for departmental committee leadership. This move challenges the provincial agreement that had established a single unified list.

The official list, known as ‘Radicales Unidos’, was set to be led by Jessica Pacheco as president and Emiliano Vargas as vice president from the MIRA sector. However, a second list was filed by Carlos Luján and Agustín Marchetti, representing figures linked to Javier Espinoza, Ángel Barrios, and former Valle Viejo mayor Roque ‘Gallo’ Jalile.

While provincial leaders had sought to replicate consensus at the local level to avoid internal disputes, the departmental autonomy granted by the UCR Charter allows local branches to define their own authorities, leaving the final decision to the Electoral Board.
