Udaipur middleman arrested for allegedly accepting ₹2 crore bribe
The Rajasthan Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested a middleman, Sajjan Singh Jain, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 crore in Udaipur. The operation followed a complaint alleging that the money was being demanded on behalf of Mukesh Kumar Soni, an Additional Superintendent of Police with the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Udaipur.
The bribe was reportedly sought in connection with a case involving 272 plots belonging to the Udaipur Municipal Corporation. The complainant alleged the funds were requested to provide relief to previously arrested individuals, prevent them from being named in further cases, and return documents that had not been formally seized.
During the trap operation, the ACB recovered ₹4 lakh in Indian currency notes. Following the arrest of the middleman, Mukesh Kumar Soni was detained from his residence in Balotra district for questioning as his involvement remains under investigation.
