UDEF seizes millions in assets in Plus Ultra and Zapatero investigations
The Economic and Fiscal Crime Unit (UDEF) has uncovered significant assets during its investigation into the Plus Ultra case and a separate piece involving former Prime Minister José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero.
Investigators have seized 490,000 euros in cash and 564,000 euros from a bank office in Miami, United States. Additionally, jewelry valued at 1.3 million euros was discovered in Zapatero’s Madrid office, while watches worth 240,000 euros were found at the residence of Dutch financier Simon Verhoeven in Palma de Mallorca.
Other findings include 171,000 euros in various denominations discovered during a search of the villa occupied by Julio Martínez Sola in Alcobendas. Santiago Fernández Lena, former secretary of Plus Ultra, reportedly surrendered 31,675 euros in cash to agents. Furthermore, Boreal Capital Management blocked 653,874 dollars in the U.S. intended for the offshore entity Landside Holdings, LTD, based in the British Virgin Islands.
