In the north, the Carabinieri of Udine dismantled a car‑theft ring that had stolen vehicles from cemetery and mountain‑trail parking areas in Udine and the Veneto coast, arresting five suspects, including a perpetrator who stole a fire‑fighter’s van. In the Brescia area, a landlord was charged with facilitating illegal immigration after he let a foreign drug dealer occupy his apartment, where narcotics were found. In Vicenza, a 30‑year‑old Italian posing as a carabiniere was caught after robbing an elderly woman of jewelry and a watch. In Cremona, a 28‑year‑old was arrested for attempted aggravated theft of commercial vans following a citizen’s tip. In Torre del Greco, a 32‑year‑old Nigerian was seized while attempting to break into a woman’s home under the influence of substances. Finally, in Naples, two men were arrested for evading house arrest and for an attempted robbery that left shop staff injured.
