Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 officially opens in Thailand

The Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026 has officially commenced at the Nong Dae wetlands in Udon Thani, Thailand. The event, which runs until March 14, 2027, is themed “Diversity of Life: Connecting People, Water and Plants for Sustainable Living.”

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony, highlighting the expo as a platform to showcase Thailand’s biodiversity, agricultural innovation, and the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy model. The event aims to promote sustainable living and climate change resilience through the integration of technology and plant conservation.

Economic projections for the expo include an estimated 20 billion baht in economic impact, the creation of 81,000 jobs, and a 7.7 billion baht increase in tax revenue. Officials anticipate over 3.6 million visitors. To support the influx, the State Railway of Thailand has established a temporary stop at the expo site to facilitate travel.

In conjunction with the expo, government officials are promoting agricultural innovations, such as customized fertilizer projects designed to reduce chemical costs for farmers, and smart farming technologies presented by the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
