Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo preparations underway

Thailand is preparing for the International Horticultural Expo in Udon Thani, scheduled to take place from November 1, 2026, to March 14, 2027, at the Nong Dae wetland area. The government expects the event to attract 3.6 million visitors, generating approximately 20 billion baht in economic value and creating 81,000 jobs.

To support the event, the Ministry of Transport is integrating land, rail, and air transport systems to connect airports, train stations, and bus terminals to the venue. Plans are also in place to connect travel to Vientiane, Laos. Following the expo, the government intends to transform the site into an international event center, an agricultural innovation hub, and a permanent public park.

Regarding the budget, the Department of Agriculture clarified that the total budget is 2.5 billion baht. An additional 250 million baht was approved by the Cabinet following a recommendation from the International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) to ensure the site meets international standards for international gardens, security, and utilities. The procurement process includes observers from the Anti-Corruption Organization of Thailand to ensure transparency.
