UEDCL announces scheduled power maintenance across Uganda
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has announced a series of scheduled maintenance exercises and network upgrades across various regions of Uganda throughout November 2026.
On the night of November 4 to November 5, UEDCL will perform routine maintenance on its Light Vending System. This four-hour window, from 10:30pm to 2:00am, will prevent prepaid customers from purchasing electricity tokens. The company has advised customers to purchase sufficient tokens in advance to avoid service interruptions.
Broader network maintenance is also scheduled for November 29, affecting major trading centers in Kampala, including Owino, Nakasero, and Kikuubo markets, as well as the Old Taxi Park. Healthcare facilities such as Nsambya Hospital and several shopping centers are also listed among the affected areas. Work in these locations involves servicing electrical switching equipment at the Old Queens Way substation.
Additional maintenance activities include work along the Entebbe corridor on November 4, affecting Kisubi, Bwebajja, and surrounding areas. In northern Uganda, maintenance will impact Moyo town and communities near Kiryandongo and Masindi Port. Western Uganda will also see service impacts in Muhanga, Muko, Kanungu, and Kihihi due to work on the Muhanga–Rugyeyo branch line. The maintenance program includes replacing poles, clearing vegetation, repairing equipment, and upgrading power lines.
