UEFA sanctions Marseille and Roma over financial fair play breaches

UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body has completed monitoring of clubs subject to settlement agreements for the 2025‑26 season. Olympique Marseille failed to meet profit objectives and breached the squad‑cost rule, resulting in a conditional three‑year UEFA competition exclusion, limits on new player registrations for 2026‑27, a €6 million fine and an additional €4 million penalty for the cost‑ratio breach. AS Roma missed its intermediate profit target, received a €2 million fine and an extra €4 million penalty for exceeding the 70 % squad‑cost threshold. Clubs such as Milan, Inter, Paris Saint‑Germain, Monaco, Besiktas, Royal Antwerp and Trabzonspor complied with the settlement targets and are no longer under monitoring, while UEFA will continue oversight of clubs still subject to agreements in the 2026‑27 season.
