UEFA to lift FIFA boycott threat after commercial guarantees FAST-MOVING

UEFA is expected to withdraw its threat to boycott FIFA competitions following assurances that the controversial FIFA Forward Enterprise project, which proposed selling commercial stakes in the World Cup to private investors, will not be revived. The decision, which is expected to be discussed at a UEFA Executive Committee meeting in Monaco, aims to protect young athletes from missing major opportunities, specifically the Under-20 Women's World Cup in Poland scheduled for September 5-27.

Despite the easing of the boycott threat, political tensions between the two governing bodies remain high. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin continues to call for FIFA President Gianni Infantino to resign or face a challenger in the March 2027 elections. Adding to the pressure, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has officially withdrawn its support for Infantino's re-election, citing concerns over his management and development of international competitions.
